“As a lifetime Artist, I endeavor to maintain a consistent thrust, excelling at my practice, Painting, my primary medium for 30 years, I have explored and commented on contemporary life of the Americas, utilizing various mediums. Creating Images from a cultural point of view. While maintaining an evolving dialogue on the transition and assimilation of the Cultural, Political and Spiritual values of the Region. Documenting the Region’s overall commitment to change and at the same time maintain a Cultural identity has been the focus. Works created in Amsterdam, Netherlands where I completed an Artist in residency and Exhibition tour in 2009. My statement here, is made with Ribbons. Ribbons as symbols, in ties and bows, sweeping and unraveling, independent and unifying, at the same time. My multidisciplinary Art Performance, where seven of my most iconic paintings come to life on stage, was mounted at the Ford Amphitheater in L.A., continued the theme of commonality, told in a narrative expressed in Dance, Pantomime, Drums, video and Chorus. My recent 2010-2020 “Spirit of the Land through Climate Change” Exhibition mounted at San Bernardino County Museum done in Mural size Watercolors. Paintings that documented my observation of the Desert flora and fauna in transition from my Desert studio over thirty years. My latest commission is a culmination of my 3D practice I began 15 years ago. “Mating Dance of Hummingbirds” done in Steel, lucite, aluminum, lime stone, LED Solar lighting expresses the metaphor of the life processes through the Double Helix as a common supporting genome. The Hummingbird, a national Jamaican Symbol, along with the nation motto “Out of Many One” combined metaphorically to express our common DNA. I express artisticly, affirmation of the gifts, from the Americas, to the rest of the World, rooted in an unified Culture. Its Europe, Africa and Asia together, marching along a main street in the New World in Celebration of life.
